A few days ago, I wrote about "Duplex", a weird but fairy object (an aquarium crossing a bird cage) designed by French female designer Constance Guisset.
Looking closer at her website, interviews and biography, I discoverd I was already in love with one of her recent work: the scenography of "Le Funambule" ballet by my favorite choreographer Angelin Preljocaj! I had then to dedicate one of my posts to such a talented woman. All the most since her professional profile is out-of-the-bitten track; and real brilliant. Look at it here: graduated from one of the best French business schools + best French institution for political studies, followed by a change of mind and design studies in one of the best school; oh and a participation to the Tokyo governor campaign! Just that!
With such a track record and the perfect mix of left brain and right brain, you could only obtain a multi-talented person with success in the end. See her awards and collaborations!
I hope to see many more of her great creative outputs!

Last Thursday, thanks to my friend Réjane, I discovered a Japanese female artist named Chiharu Shiota.
The symbolism of her work may make me feel oppressed, the aesthetics of it has some kind of fairy though. I like her pure and repetitive work, somehow gothic and romantic like frozen in ice. Most appealing to me is her work about the web and threads to reshape space and perception. A great artist to discover and work of art to experience.
Learn more about her here.

Branded art seem to be famous amongst car-makers. After BMW and its Kinetic sculpture, Lexus has also its own car expressed through a work of art: the "CT Umbra". Their latest Compact CT 200h has given birth to a sculpture made of 2500 aluminium bars, changing from golden to blueish colour to express the already-controversial duality of the new car that allies luxus and green attitude. That work of art has been designed by Los-Angeles-based Non-Design.
Doesn't look a little bit too close to the BMW Kinetic Sculpture?

SPECTRAL ISSUE FILM#3 EXPO from VS Team on Vimeo.
Adam Kesher - Gravy train
Uploaded by disqueprimeur. - See the latest featured music videos.I've just fallen upon that music clip, "Gravy Train" by French music band Adam Kesher, and I wanted to share it on my blog since I find the idea interesting. To me, it's a good example of how two brands can bring value to each other by partnering cleverly.
After a shop middle of an exhibition (Louis Vuitton at the Brooklyn Museum, NYC, during an exhibition dedicated to Takashi Murakami), it's now the turn to a videoclip to be shot middle of an art installation. Instead of recreating a stage for their music video, band Adam Kesher have used an unusual ready-to-be-used stage: an art installation! The clip has been shot middle of the "Spectral Issue" created by the collective Visual System for the Lab-Labanque in Bethunes, France. The installation is an interactive light trail that enable the audience to discover the former bank that has been transformed into a museum, the Lab-Labanque.
Such an installation was quite a logical place to shoot a videoclip for a pop rock electroish music band. And for the museum that may not be really famous, what best than hosting the videoclip shooting of a rising star of the international pop rock scene?

I missed the news late 2008. Happily I finally fell upon it: the "Kinetic Sculpture" by BMW at the BMW Museum in Münich! What a wonderful piece of art. Because yes, it is art. Brand art to be more precise. A new smart way of communicating a few brands have started to exploit. To our great joy!
Speaking about brand art by BMW, here is what the Kinetic Sculpture is: "The Kinetic Sculpture is a metaphorical translation of the process of form-finding in art and design. 714 metal spheres, hanging from thin steel wires attached to individually-controlled stepper motors and covering the area of six square meters, animate a seven minute long mechatronic narrative. In the beginning, moving chaotically, then evolving to several competing forms that eventually resolve to the finished object, the Kinetic Sculpture creates an artistic visualisation of the process of form-finding in different variations." This is the explanation of German creative agency Art+Com that is the designer of tha wonderful object.
This sculpture must have a whaouh-effect on anyone. Brilliant. Not that the kinetic art is brand-new (dates back to the 60s) nor that BMW is the first brand to use brand art (see other brands using it here). Or that I'm a pro-BMW since I'm the happy owner of a classy (yet a little bit show-off yes, I acknowledge it) beamer that makes us confirm BMW's baseline "Sheer driving pleasure". Or that the kinetic sculpture is mesmerizing, you could starring at it for ever. No, it's not just that. Once the 7mn-pleasure fix passed, what is brilliant is that expression is a mere reflect of what the brand is: a master of technology and a creative brand always at the vangard, whatever the field of expertise. When the result of the creative process fits so well to the brand, what a powerful brand tool!
So I'd only have one word: bravissimo!!
And if you'd like to practise your kinetic sense of art, you can go on the BMW kinetic website to make your own work of art and exhibit it in the gallery! Here.
